At a recent Northern Wasco County PUD board meeting, the board took action to adopt a resolution supporting the Northwest RiverParner’s Green Dams Blue Skies campaign which supports a partnership for all uses of the Columbia River system – renewable hydropower, agriculture, commerce and recreation.
April 30, 2007 PUD WINS NATIONAL AWARD
WASHINGTON, D.C., April 30, 2007— Northern Wasco County PUD is one of 48 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn Reliable Public Power ProviderTM (RP3) recognition from the American Public Power Association, headquartered in Washington, DC, for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service.
September 25, 2007 NWPPA EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNICATION AWARD WINNERS
VANCOUVER, WA.-The Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA) presented their Excellence in Communication awards at its annual Northwest Innovations Conference on September 25, 2007, in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Now in its 14th year, the Excellence in Communication contest, the second-largest of its kind in the nation, recognizes the top communication efforts from member utilities from all around NWPPA's service territory, which includes 11 western states and two Canadian provinces.
This year NWPPA received nearly 150 entries from 41 member utilities. Categories are broken up into four groups: Group A utilities having the smallest number of customers and Group D have the largest.
In addition to the Excellence in Communication awards, NWPPA also presented the 2007 Tom Hougan Award for the best overall communication effort of the year. The judges selected Columbia River PUD to receive this year's award.
Awarded by NWPPA on the 25th day of September 2007 a Certificate of Excellence in Communication was awarded to Northern Wasco County PUD. This award certifies that Northern Wasco County PUD placed second in the category of Media/ad Campaign, Group A.
October 29, 2007 PUD EXPLORES POWER OPTIONS
Regional alliance may offer alternatives

Northern Wasco County PUD mostly likely will be looking for regional assistance as it explores the uncertain future of Pacific Northwest power supplies.
PUD commissioners met October 23 with John Saven, chief executive officer of Northwest Requirements Utilities, a firm that plans to develop power supply and transmission options for a number of regional ppublic power utilities.
October 30, 2007 LOCAL PUD DIRECTOR ELECTED PRESIDENT OF STATE ORGANIZATION
Northern Wasco County PUD Director, Howard Gonser, has been elected the 2008 President of the Oregon PUD Association in Salem, Oregon.
The Oregon PUD Association (OPUDA) is an alliance of Oregon People's Utility Districts devoted to serving its customers and others interested in consumer ownership of their utility. Among other advocacy roles, OPUDA represents the six Oregon PUDs in legislative and related matters.
